The oily coating is because they are oily in nature. These products offer protection to the hair. It helps prevent the hair from being damaged by dust, pollutants, and other substances. The different types of emollients There are different types of emollients used to make emollient hair products. They include: Natural vegetable oils: The most commonly used emollients are butter and natural vegetable oils like coconut oil, olive oil, and almond oil. They moisturize hair and also nurture it. Wax: Wax is useful as an emollient and can help in protecting the hair. It also conditions the hair and makes it soft. It is thick in nature as compared to butter. Jojoba oil and beeswax are commonly used waxes to make emollient products. Fatty alcohols: These emollients work differently and attract water instead of repelling it. Glycerol and Cetearyl alcohol are commonly used fatty alcohols. Silicones: They create a protective film over the hair to help deal with damaged hair. Dimethicone and Cyclomethicone are commonly used silicone substances used in emollients. Emollients made by specialty chemical suppliers are very useful in hair care. This explains why they are used to make a hair conditioning agent or any other product.
