  5. Processes • Improve Manual Processes. • Revenue collection- cash points location, surrender and accountability • Patient queues and movement • Assists in eventual location of computers and network cables • Never automate a bad process

  7. Introduction of ICT • No clear path for institutions on how to go about it • Management team to chart way forward • Set priority Areas • In Nakuru, Finance- clinical records (OPD)-stores- HR • Systems developer- ministry had identified a number of them

  8. Execution • Start Small and grow • Started with 20 computers • Currently 200 computers

  9. Effects • Accurate data • All patients attended to through the system • Revenue and consumables can be tied to workload

  10. Outsourcing • Cleaning, cash in transit, maintenance of grounds, • Helped in having extra labor- absorbed in other areas where needed and others redundant

  11. Effect of changes • Procurement accountability • Feed the right people, Pt fed before visiting hours, standardize serves • Less consumables • Less printed documents • Lower cost in running the hospital • Improved infrastructure • Motivated staff
