  3. 1.INTRODUCCIÓN • Nace en París el 26 de Julio de 1928. • Descendiente de emigrantes rusos. • Pasa su infancia en Italia y Francia, y emigra a EEUU a causa de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. • Comienza a hacer fotografías a partir de final de los 40. • Trabaja en un estudio fotográfico en Hollywood y más tarde como fotógrafo para diversas publicaciones. • En 1953 forma parte de la agencia Magnum Photos y es presidente durante 3 años. • Fue fotógrafo de la Casa Blanca y colaboró en Look, Life y Holiday.  • Su calidad artística, su gran impacto comunicativo y su fina ironía lo sitúan en un lugar privilegiado de los fotógrafos del S. XX.
