CURRENT DEMAND ON SEAFARERS • Shortage of Seafarers • BIMCO/ISF Manpower 2005 Updates, the world will be facing shortfall of 27,000 seafarers (officer level) by the year 2015. • BIMCO – The Baltic International Maritime Council – world largest private shipping organization with 2,720 members. • More than 50% of the officers employed on Malaysian flag foreign going vessels are expatriates. • Currently, there are about 4,000 Malaysian Registered Ship. • Opportunity in Tertiary Education in Malaysia • Notes: • Placement for students in local higher learning institutes (private and public) are est. 211,532 • Malaysia needs 30% of its labor force with tertiary education to achieve the characteristics of first-world talent base

Entry Requirements - Diploma in Nautical Studies • Entry Requirements : • SPM Examination with strong credits in : • Bahasa Malaysia • English Language • Mathematics • Physics • Male or Female • Single • Age 17 – 25 years old • Minimum height of 158cm and weight of 48kg for male applicants (BMI: 18.5 – 24.9) • Minimum height of 155cm and weight of 42kg for female applicants (BMI: 18.5 – 24.9) • Mentally and physically fit • Not colour blind • No visual aids (for DNS only).

Entry Requirements - Diploma in Marine Engineering • Entry Requirements : • SPM Examination or UK GCE O’Level equivalent with strong credits in : • English Language • Mathematics • Physics • Additional Mathematics • National Language – Bahasa Malaysia (for Malaysian) • Male or Female • Single • Age 17 – 25 years old • Minimum height of 158cm and weight of 48kg for male applicants (BMI: 18.5 – 24.9) • Minimum height of 155cm and weight of 42kg for female applicants (BMI: 18.5 – 24.9) • Mentally and physically fit • Not colour blind • Vision : Maximum power allowed for DME is 200
