  4. Changes she made: She worked more than 50 years to make the right for women to vote. She served as an agent for the American anti-slavery society. Sacrifices she made: was arrested and found guilty, had to pay $100 fine. How this changed North Carolina: A lot more people can vote, helped anti-slavery , women are running for president. Susan B. Anthony(Febuary 15, 1820-March 13, 1906)

  5. Elizabeth Cady Stanton Mrs. Stanton wanted to change women’s rights. She wanted men and woman to be equal. Because of her actions woman can now vote. • She was good at giving • Speeches and writing. • She went to Troy Female Seminary. • She was married. • Woman can now vote. 1815-1902 I am thankful that Elizabeth Cady Stanton paved the way for women.   6. Harriet Tubman She thought slavery was not fair because only black people were slaves. When she was little she was abused and still had to work. CLARA BARTON • Born December 25, 1821 Oxford, Massachusetts • She went into the middle of a war and helped soldiers as much as she could • She cared for wounded soldiers in the field • She worked in the Red Cross and helped soldiers • How does Clara Barton relate to me? Amelia Earhart • She became a pilot even though people said women should not be pilots. • She inspired other women to follow their dreams. • She was the first woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean by plane. • In 1934 she flew across the Pacific Ocean. • In 1937 she attempted to fly around the world, but she ran out of fuel and crashed.   10. Amelia Earhart was born in Atchison Kansas . She worked for nurses’ aide under the Red Cross. 2008 marks Amelia Earhart’s 66th anniversary for her solo flight. She is most famous for being the first woman to fly an airplane. Amelia Earhart 1897-1937 How does Amelia Earhart’s life relate to me? She was a nurse and my mom is a nurse. Helen Keller • Born in Tuscumbia Alabama June 27, 1880. • When she was little she had a high fever which caused her to be blind and deaf. • She persevered and learned to read brail • Helen traveled around the world and talked about her book The Story of My Life. • Her life is a example to our life for what we can accomplish • How Helen Keller relates to me? • She relates to me because I never give up and I like to learn.   18. -He was 16 when he became a test pilot. Born August 5, 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio. First person to step foot on the moon. He was in the navy. - Second person in his family to attend college- went to school at MIT. First words on the moon were “Houston, Tranquility base here, the eagle has landed.” But most people think that is was “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” -He spent 8 days, 14 hours and 12 minutes in space.   24. Wilbur WrightBill Ray Born on April 16, 1867 in Millville, Indiana and died in 1912. Orville, his brother, helped him on there invention, the airplane. The airplanes fly and people can go places. He had three sisters.

Mother Teresa (August 26, 1910-September 5, 1997) • Got many awards from The Pope • She was born in Agnes Gonxha, Bojaxhiu • Was the youngest of three children • Took dying Indians off the streets • She stopped working at St. Mary High School to work with the poor • She risked her health working with the sick • Mother Teresa put love into action • Over 5,000 sisters, brothers and volunteers run 500 worldwide, feeding 500,000 families and helping 90,000 lepers every year. • She helped us to understand how to be generous.

Facts about him are no parerty,liberation of woman and brotherhood between groups. And he said you must be the change you want to see in the world.   40. Rosa Parks Rosa showed me not to do bad things, and to do wants right. Rosa wanted to change the rules where she could sit wherever she wanted to because she thought it was not fair. He made the way for African • He was born in Atlanta , Georgia. • He was assassinated in Tennessee. • Married Coretta Scott and had four children. • He participated in marches for freedom. • He suffered harassment and intimidation and the protest still went on. • During the Bus Boycott his house was bombed. • Thanks To MLK we all go to the same schools. MLK changed the way we live in NC by helping us to have the same rights as white people.

  44. Cesar Estrada Chavez • He was born in the year of 1927 and died in the year of 1993. • He fought for grape growers to earn more money. • He also fought for there to be more farmers. • His famous quote was “don’t believe everything that CNN puts out there.” Tyler Vonbergen

He fought for better pay and treatment for non-American farmers. • Sacrifices he made : He gave his lifesavings of $1,200 and formed the National Farmers Association. In 1962. • He was successful in achieving fair treatment of farm workers and changed the lives of millions of people for the better. • How his change affected N.C. Lance Armstrong • Began athletics at age of 1. • Born on September 18, 1971, in Plano, Texas • Won 11th place for Junior World Championships for bicycling. • In 2000, he won the bronze medal in a time trial at the Olympics in Sydney, Australia. • Overcame testicular cancer and started the Lance Armstrong Foundation to help other cancer patients.
