  3. Faith– a theme running through the whole Bible Hebrews 11 • What is faith? (Hebrews 11:1) • The ear or the eye? • Doubt or unbelief? (Mark 9:14-30) • Why is faith necessary? (Hebrews 11:6) • What good examples of faith are there (Hebrews 11 or elsewhere)? • The example of Abraham (Hebrews 11: 8-12)

Abram’s (Abraham’s) faith- an example to follow • Genesis 12:1-4 – God’s promise to Abram • Genesis 15:5,6 – Abram trusts in God despite facing the reality of his own physical limitations (Romans 4:19) • Genesis 22:16 – after Abraham had offered Isaac as a sacrifice, God increases the blessing
