  1. Know Your Bible

  2. B  basic I  instruction B  before L  leaving/life E  earth/ends

  3. What do you need to do to know the content of a book? • we can always read the table of contents or the back but you really understand a book once you read it • when we read the Holy Bible, it can become a habit and we stop paying attention to what we’re reading • The HB teaches us that, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” 2 Timothy 3:16. • “for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit” 2 Peter 1:21. • these verses show us that the HB is several works put together from the holy spirit, NOT fabricated by man

  4. There are two part to the Holy Bible • The Old Testament • the Books of Moses (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy) • the Historical Books (Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1st and 2nd, Samuel, 1st and 2nd Kings, 1st and 2nd Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther) • the Poetical/Wisdom Books (Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs and Lamentations) • the Prophetical Books (a- Major Prophets: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Daniel. b- Minor Prophets: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi) • the Deutro-Canonical Books • The New Testament • the Four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) • the Praxis (Acts of the Apostles) • the Pauline Epistles (14 epistles written by St. Paul to different churches and different people: Romans, 1st and 2nd Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesus, Philippi, Colossians, 1st and 2nd Thessalonians, 1st and 2nd Timothy, Titus, Philemon and Hebrews) • the Catholic Epistles (James, 1st and 2nd Peter, 1st 2nd and 3rd John and Jude) • the Prophetic Book (Revelation)

  5. How do the Old and New Testament relate to each other??? • many parts of the OT foreshadow the reincarnation of Christ in the NT • sacrifices from the OT symbolizing the crucifixion of Christ (sacrifice of an animal on the altar)

  6. 1) The 5 Books of Moses: Also called the Torah or the Law. The acts and the teachings of the Old Testament church. Talks about man’s life (the creation, the fall and journeying to the Promised Land). The 5 Books of Moses: Also called the Torah or the Law. The acts and the teachings of the Old Testament church. Talks about man’s life (the creation, the fall and journeying to the Promised Land).

  7. 2) The Acts of the Apostles: The history of God’s work in the church through the Holy Spirit. The Historical Books: The history of God’s work with his people in the new land.

  8. 3) The Wisdom Books: Explain the faith and how to live it. The Epistles: Explain the Divinity of Christ and the details of our faith.

  9. 4) The Book of Revelation: Contains Prophecies about the second coming of Christ and the end of days. The Prophetical Books: Contain prophecies about the coming Christ (before the Incarnation).

  10. Cool Bible Facts! • the Bible contains the phrase “Do not be afraid” 365 times meaning one for each day of the year • the world “Bible” comes from the Greek word “Biblia” meaning “books” which makes sense because the Bible is made up of several books • in Christ’s 3 year ministry, only 18 of those days are documented in the Bible • the HB is the most valued and shoplifted book in history • Enoch and Elijah were the only men in the Bible who didn’t die • the word "God" appears in every book of the Bible except Esther and Song of Solomon.

  11. Verse of the Week How sweet are Your words to my taste,Sweeter than honey to my mouth! Psalm 119:103
