  3. “Wonderment at the mysteries of Christ’s words and works is one of the threads that runs through Luke’s Gospel.” • People often respond by praising or blessing God. Wonder, marvel, amaze, astonishment.

  4. “The child’s father and his mother marveled at what was said about him.” • Simeon’s pronouncement of the child to be a light to the Gentiles and glory to Israel. Luke 2:33

  5. “Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers. When his parents saw him, they were astonished.” • When he was 12 at the temple in Jerusalem. Luke 2:47-48

  6. “All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips.” • When he read Isaiah and announced the beginning of his ministry at his home town synagogue in Nazareth. Luke 4:22

  7. “All the people were amazed and said to each other, “What is this teaching? With authority and power he gives orders to evil spirits and they come out!” • In the synagogue at Capernaum after a demon called him “the Holy One of God”. Luke 4:36
