Getting Ready for Ninth Grade • Keep Flashcards to Review Vocabulary • first assignment of 9th grade • Review grammar concepts, i.e. • noun endings, verb conjugations • Practice Exercises on Website • on Magistra Block’s website (NAI page) • packet and answers will be posted in May/June • sign-up if interested in a notification email

Honors Latin Curriculum • Cambridge Latin Course Units 2 and 3 • covers apx 12 chapters (stages) each year- same pace as the 8th grade course • Larger scope and sequence • Frequent and challenging assessments • More composition from English into Latin • Various and creative activities • Rigorous curriculum • Honors weighted grade • Goal of AP Latin (AP Exam) at end of articulation in 12th Grade

Characteristics of an Honors Student • Independent, self-motivated learner • Able to process new concepts quickly • Takes responsibility for absences • Plans ahead; utilizes assignment book • Budgets time wisely • Proactive about seeking help • Takes advantage of flashcards, study guides, extra practice worksheets

Regular Latin Curriculum • Cambridge Latin Course Unit 2 • covers apx 8 chapters (stages)- slower pace than the 8th grade course • Shorter sequence and scope • Frequent assessments • Tests and quizzes broken into two parts • Various activities • More opportunities for review and consolidation • Goal of Honors Senior Latin at end of articulation in 12th Grade

Considerations • Latin 1A - regular and same course for all students • Honors • Curriculum begins with the 1B course • Curriculum goal of AP Latin • Moving out of Honors sequence • Can be done from Honors 1B to Regular 2 (3 chapters of repeated material material) • Not allowed after Honors II to Regular 3 (Entire course is repeated, cannot get credit for both courses) A lot repeated→ Essentially Same Course)
