  3. What is A Matrix? A matrix is a rectangular arrangement of numbers in rows and columns. Row column This matrix has 2 rows and 3 columns, so it is said to be a 2 x 3 matrix.

  4. Adding Matrices • Must be a same dimensions • Simply add corresponding elements! Example:

  5. Subtracting Matrices • Must be a same dimensions • Simply subtract corresponding elements! • Watch for negatives!! Example:

  6. Just to be clear… These two matrices are not the same dimensions, so they CANNOT be added or subtracted!! = ?
