  3. Communication Issues • Can you involve them in the planning process? • Can they read your plan? • Keep a record of what you send them (version numbers etc) • Is a kick-off meeting out of the question?

  4. Resourcing Issues • Can you be realistic in your requirements? • Ask them about their skills and experience • Ask them about their other commitments • Ask their boss about their other commitments • If you do meet them, what will you give them?

  5. Cultural Issues • How will they expect you to behave (will they prefer a directive or participative style of leadership?) • What if you appoint a local to be ‘stage manager’ • Will they expect to contribute to decision-making? • Brainstorms might need special treatment • Team meetings to identify problems might need special treatment
