  9. Active Directory • Directory Services are a service that provides a method of keeping track of all of the system/network resources • Active Directory uses the concept of Domains • Domains describe a company or a division of a company • Usually associated to a DNS domain name • Mydomain.com

Group Policy • Group Policy and the Active Directory services infrastructure enable IT administrators to automate one-to-many management of users and computers—simplifying administrative tasks and reducing IT costs. Group Policy • Group Policy is an infrastructure used to deliver and apply one or more desired configurations or policy settings to a set of targeted users and computers within an Active Directory environment. This infrastructure consists of a Group Policy engine and multiple client-side extensions (CSEs) responsible for writing specific policy settings on target client computers. • Define a set of permissions and behaviors that can be assigned to the objects within the Active Directory Domain
