Calculating Speed Limits and Distance Traveled Using Dimensional Analysis

DESCRIPTION

In this exercise, we explore dimensional analysis to convert speed limits and calculate distance. The speed limit in many areas of the US is set at 55 miles per hour. By using dimensional analysis, we can convert this speed to kilometers per hour. Additionally, if you are driving at a speed of 65 miles per hour and take your eyes off the road for just one second, we'll determine how far you travel in feet during that brief distraction. Solve these problems to earn 10 points and enhance your understanding of dimensional analysis!

  1. Dimensional AnalysisDirections:Your goal is to earn 10 points. Feel free to solve all of the problems for extra practice! The speed limit on many streets in the US is 55 mi/h. What number would be posted in km/h? You are driving 65 mi/h and take your eyes off of the road for “just a second.” What distance (in feet) do you travel in this time?
