  2. About Jane • As a child Jane discovered that chickens lay eggs. • Throughout her childhood Jane kept pets and studied any animal life she could find. • Jane Goodall wanted to study animal behavior. • She was born April 3rd 1934. • She went to Africa to see animals in the wild.

  3. In Africa • She met somebody named Dr. Louis Leakey in Africa. • Before leaving Africa Jane arranged a job at a big company in Kenya to support her stay.

More About Jane • People considered its dangerous for a young woman to go into the jungle but not Jane. • She waited for months just to see a chimp. • She is married to Van Lawick. • She never gave up on trying to study chimps. • She learned that chimps eat insects. • In 1961 the National Geographic provided more money for Jane’s search.

  5. Cool Facts About Chimps • Chimps have the same blood types as us. • The first chimp to accept Jane was a male named David Greybeard. • A chimp dipped a leaf in the water and sucked it to get a drink. • Jane found out chimps are not vegetarians.

  6. Loving For Chimps • Jane still travels around the world speaking about chimps. • Jane works to improve conditions of chimps in zoo’s.
