Open Call • Objective: to support R&D or pilot trials in food farming technology with direct practical industry application, so as to maximize local farm productivity to ensure food supply resilience. • Eligibility: farms, tertiary institutions and research institutions. Full time faculty may apply so long as NTU is the lead organisation.

  4. Open Call…cont’d • Focus areas: eggs, fish and leafy vegetables • Note: AVA advised that applicants can address any of the 3 focus areas • Maximum project period: 3 years • Deadline : Not applicable. Applicants may submit their proposals any time

  5. Challenge Call • Objective: to support R&D or pilot trials in food farming technology with direct practical industry application, so as to maximize local farm productivity to ensure food supply resilience. • Eligibility: farms, tertiary institutions and research institutions. Full time faculty may apply so long as NTU is the lead organisation.

Challenge Call….cont’d • Deadline: 31 Oct 2011, 5 pm • Focus areas: Projects must apply to the 2 key food items, poultry and fish. • PI can address any of the 2 focus areas : i) to develop a cost effective technology to manage poultry waste in egg farms and produce good quality and disease-free composts for vegetable farming  and /or biogas production; and ii) to achieve consistent fish fry production for commonly farmed species. • By managing chicken waste effectively in hen egg farms in Singapore, farms can have a bigger population of layers,  thereby producing more eggs for local supply.  

  7. Administrative information for applicants • Maximum project period: 3 years • For submission of 2 page write up for project description, potential impact on local food supply etc, AVA advised font type and size to be Arial or Times New Roman point 12

Cont’d • Funding support: AVA co-funds 70% of the qualifying costs of the project subject to a cap of $2 million, whichever is lower • Applicants must show that they have the financial capacity to complete the project on their own, or with partners and submit the latest audited financial statement for 2 years

  9. Administrative information for applicants.. Cont’d • For project milestone, AVA has advised to include a project milestone chart • For summary of funding, AVA has advised to provide breakdown of budget as mentioned at Annex A for AVA’s evaluation of qualifying costs

Cont’d • For track record mentioned at Annex A, AVA has advised there is no page limit but track record or CV should be relevant to the project proposal • For the team, if any of the PI have received funding in the past 3 years, a one-page summary/progress report of each such funded project should be submitted

  11. Administrative information for applicants.. Cont’d • Submissions to AVA: soft copy to AVA_Food_Fund_Applications@ava.gov.sg • Signed hard copies to RSO through School Administrators by 24 Oct 11.
