  1. Welcome to the Good Neighbors Time Bank! This project –the development of the Good Neighbors Time Bank is supported by a grant from the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council.

Tenets of Time Banking • Everyone has something to offer others and their community. • Everyone’s time is of equal value. • Everyone can earn even when doing work that money doesn’t usually pay for like building families, developing community, and supporting democracy • Everyone benefits from having relationships and a network. • Everyone’s needs can be met if we have the opportunity to rely on one another and respect what everyone can offer.

  3. Good Neighbors Time Bank • 1 hour of service is = to 1 time dollar (sometimes referred to as a time credit) When a time dollar is spent/earned, this is called an exchange. • Exchanges are recorded online at www.goodneighborstb.timebanks.org Support people can be available to you. If you need help with any part of time banking just let your time bank coordinator know.

Benefits • Counts towards Community Participation- written into definition • Builds authentic relationships • Helps to builds skills and confidence • Great way to try out new things • Can be used as Discovery and Customized employment launcher • Provides social opportunities too • Great for families • Helpful to staff

Ideas for your folks… • Offers: • Help cleaning out basements, sheds, closets • Turning over seasonal closets • Animal/Pet care • Companionship • Mothers helper or Shopping Asst • Lawn/Garden Care • Requests: • Transportation! (to work, recreation etc) • Companionship • Recreation help • Learning (guitar lessons, yoga class, jewelry making, cooking) • Movie Buddy

  7. Steps to Sign Up • Attend an Introduction…we can do it here for consumers, staff, families etc • Complete your online profile • Pay $25 membership fee or provide 2 hours of service
