Investing in Your Future Physicians formed MSMA in 1850 Mission: To serve its members through promotion of the science and art of medicine, protection of the health of the public and betterment of the medical profession in Missouri The voice of ALL Missouri physicians Medicine’s advocate at the Missouri Capitol, the Department of Health, Department of Insurance, Board of Healing Arts, the Courts and Governor’s Office Located in Jefferson City two blocks from the Capitol

  3. Current State Initiatives Protecting the state’s Tort Reform Laws Fighting onerous Insurance Company policiesprior authorization, unilateral contract changes MO Health Net managed care Advocating for public health reformstobacco, tanning bed prohibition, seat belts

  4. Other State Initiatives Supporting a statewide Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Expanding telehealth to reach rural areas Working to increase reimbursement and decrease red tape Protecting the practice of medicine fromnon-physician health care professionals

  5. Missouri Scholarship Support forStudents Entering Shortage Areas MSMA is working to expand funding of medical scholarships and loan forgiveness for medical students, residents, and physicians entering health profession shortage areas in Missouri.

  6. Medical Student Mental Health Act of 2017 S.B. 52 Prohibits medical schools from interfering or restricting any organization from studying student mental health Creates a committee to collect data and implement protocols to decrease burnout, depression, and suicide among medical students

MSMA Mentorship Program for Students Student Members Matched With Physician Members Matched by Specialty and Specialty of Interest Physicians and Students: Connected by Phone and Email Physicians Providing Advice, Perspective, or Just an Ear Must Be an MSMA Member! www.msma.org/student-mentorship
