Junior Cycle 2022 Subjects being assessed under New Junior Cycle English, Science, Business Studies, Irish, French, Visual Art, Maths, History, Geography, Tech Graphics, Materials Technology Wood. Assessment An Assessment (AT) Task is carried out after CBA2 and sent to the state exams commission for correction. There is 10% of the final grade allocated to this. Each subject will have 2 Classroom based Assessments. CBA1 – Last term 2nd year CBA2 – First term of 3rd year These are not assessed by the SEC but will appear on profile of achievement.

  20. Easy Pay Online School Payments. Student ID is Childs PPS Number Can be accessed online through the school website or with your mobile phone. Visa, Visa debit, master card can be used. Can be used to pay School tour, Mock Exam fees, TYP fees, After school study, Book rental. First year costs: Locker, Diary, PE Kit, Art Kit, Tech Graphics Kit, Calculator, 3 Years SPHE workbooks, Religion Book (total cost €130)

  22. Special Education Needs (SEN) SEN covers both learning support and resource teaching. Educational Psychological reports must be made available to school as soon as possible. To allow appropriate support and actions to be in place as quick as possible. School testing has already taken place further testing may take place in first two weeks of first term.

  25. Big Brother/little brother Program for incoming first years (24 students) Monaghan Youth Federation to train 5th years to act as Peer Ministers. Four teachers trained to act as advisers to the 5th year pupils. Groups to meet once a week to discuss any issues with first year pupils. Activities include Cinema afternoon, Quiz, Lunchtime Games, Scavenger Hunt and End of year trip.

The school uniform is: A plain grey v-neck jumper with crest Plain grey trousers Black shoes (with no markings) Pale blue shirt (not denim) Dark blue tie (junior) Students who come to school with incorrect uniforms must report to the teacher in charge and hire missing items.Trousers cost €5 per day. All other items cost €2 per day.)

  35. Children First National Guidance for the protection and welfare of children. Children First Act 2015 TUSLA- Child and Family Agency All staff are now mandated persons and are obliged by law to report cases where they feel they have reasonable grounds for concern.

  36. Mobile Phones Students must switch off and put away mobile phones during class times unless otherwise instructed. Failure to do so will may lead to phones being confiscated. Parents are asked to support the schools efforts to protect all our pupils. Policy available on school web-site. (Internet safety – www.webwise.ie)

  38. Lockers First year students find it extremely difficult to organise their lockers because of this they tend to keep all of their books in their bags. The not so good The Good

  39. Homework Homework is an essential aspect of school life. (See “Homework policy” on school website) Designated homework must always be attempted. This may include revision, learning and written work. Where homework has not been attempted due to a legitimate reason parents are asked to provide a note of explanation. Homework should take 30-40 minutes per night before Christmas increasing to 60-90 minutes after Christmas.

  40. Edmodo Edmodo is an educational technology company offering a communication, collaboration and coaching platform to schools and teachers. The Edmodo network enables teachers to share content, distribute quizzes, assignments, and manage communication with students, colleagues, and parents. Students will require a school email address. Teachers will assist with this set up in school in Sept 2019.

  41. Microsoft Students to receive access to Microsoft Office suite. Teaching groups to be set up which will allow interaction with teacher. Project work/ essays/ preparation for CBA’s can be accessed by students.
