  2. IT Workers Lose Confidence in Job Outlook By Dennis McCafferty on 2012-08-03 The economy must make a major turnaround for tech professionals to feel good about their prospects, according to a new “IT Employee Confidence Index” survey from Randstad Technologies/Technisource. Overall, the index is heading downward after reaching its highest level in the last four-and-a-half years. Similarly, IT workers are concluding that there are fewer jobs out there, which is prompting them to stay put in their current positions. "The decline in overall confidence levels of IT workers aligns with other recent U.S. news reports pointing to a slowdown in job creation,” says Bob Dickey, executive vice president of technologies at Randstad U.S. “Technology workers are exercising caution when it comes to their sentiments around the economy.” However, the long-term outlook for tech workers looks promising, the company reports, as the tech/telecom, financial activities and health care sectors remain strong, and employers pursue more aggressive project implementations. More than 220 IT employees took part in the research.
