  2. Matt. 16:21-23 21. From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day. 22. Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, "Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!" 23. But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men." Adversary, an offense or impediment, an opposer

  3. Peter understood what Jesus said ! But he did not believe that Jesus meant what He said! Many people do not believe God Means what He says

  4. Eve Did Not Believe God Meant What he Said Gen. 2:16-17 - could not eat of one tree in garden Gen. 3:2-3 - she knew what God had said 1 Tim. 2:14 - the woman was deceived She was deceived by the devil into thinking that God did not mean what He said! Did God mean what He said?

People Of Noah’s Day Did Not Believe God Meant What He Said Gen. 6:7 “I will destroy man” 2 Pet. 2:5 - Noah was a preacher of righteousness - He preached for 120 years warning people - Only 8 people believed God All the rest of the people did not believe - it did not seem reasonable to them ! Did God mean what He said?

  6. Lot’s Wife Did Not Believe God Meant What He Said “Escape for your life; do not look behind you” Gen. 19:17 “But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.” Gen. 19:26 What harm would it do? Could he really mean not to look back? Did God mean what He said?

Uzzah Did Not Believe God Meant What He Said God gave instructions for moving tabernacle furniture Ex. 25:14 - staves into the rings Num. 4:15 “they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die” 2 Samuel 6 - Touched ark and died What harm could touching the ark possibly do ? Did God mean what He said?

  8. Nadab and Abihu Did Not Believe God Meant What He Said Lev. 10:1-2 “offered profane fire” “which he had not commanded them”= unauthorized Why? - What difference does it make? - Fire is fire Lev. 10:3 - “'By those who come near Me I must be regarded as holy” Did God mean what He said?

  9. Some Today Do Not Believe God Means What He Says

All Accountable People Have Sinned And Will Be Lost Unless They Obey The Gospel Rom. 3:10 “there is none righteous, no not one” Rom. 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Rom. 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death:” Rev. 21:27 - only those in Lamb’s book of life Did God mean what He said?

  11. Worship, To Be Acceptable, Must Be In Spirit And Truth Jn. 4:24 “God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” Matt. 15:8-9 In vain they do worship Many do whatever pleases them in worship Did God mean what He said?

  12. Christians Must Not Forsake The Assemblies Heb. 10:24-25 “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together” Some attend only when convenient Forsake for any reason Did God mean what He said?

  13. Necessity of Loving One another John 13:34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another…” John 13:35 “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” Did God mean what He said?

  14. Watching Our Speech Eph. 4:22-32 = Put off the old man - put on the New Speech Lying Corrupt Communication Col. 4:6 “seasoned with salt” Prov. 13:3 “He who guards his mouth preserves his life” Profanity Cursing Gossip Did God mean what He said?

  15. Does God Mean What He Says ? YES

  16. Acts 27:25 "Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me.” NKJV “So take heart, men, for I have faith in God that it will be exactly as I have been told.” ESV “So have courage, men! I trust God that everything will turn out as he told me.” GWT

  17. “ALL SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS” (EPH. 1:3) SALVATION (2 TIM. 2:10) IN CHRIST BAPTISM ROM. 6:3-4 “NO CONDEMNATION” (ROM. 8:1) “NEW CREATION” (2 COR. 5:17)
