Healthy Computing 2013Date: Wednesday 22nd May 2013 Carl Adams, SoC
Main interests • Information System perspective – people, processes, business, organisation aspects (not just technology –though that is also interesting) • Unintended consequences (analysis going beyond basic requirements, + temporal view) • Mobile stuff – use of mobile technologies, autonomic systems (lots here really from use studies to development of mobile apps … and cross over with other disciplines, such as biology)
Main interests • Example past projects • Mobile technology use by CHCW (with TF) • unsuccessful bids – monitoring support for stroke rehab; big/open data – data analytics in HC • Future projects • Mobile monitoring , PANs • Body-Audio (or body-sensor(s)) to mobile for health monitoring (wearable devices [Manchester do so good ones] – my focus on mobile links, protocols, security, practicality – and data processing). Want funding (& collaboration) for this …. project sketched out
Main interests • Future projects • Changing role (and capability) of technology, big data / open data • IoT – lots of stuff here • Economics, practicality, security, liability, working protocols, dig/open data, unintended consequences • Actively involved in IoT community [funding opportunities here- Digital Economy themes ]
Healthy Computing: Carl’s interests Mobile technologies & APPs, changing social and working practices Technology driven changes to healthcare IoT … economic and practical models, applications and issues Qualitative tools (capturing the impact – TSEA, unintended consequences) Healthy computing Novel ways of looking at HC (re thinking HC/ moving the boundaries, integrating with other activity (pensions, socialising …) Data – OGD, big/massive datasets, data analytics Autonomic (AC … health applications & lessons to HC)
