  3. Villa Park History • Villa Park is Orange County's smallest city, and is located in the center of Orange County. It has an area of 2.1 square miles, a population of 6,500 and approximately 2,050 homes. • The history of the area goes back to the 1860s. It was known in its early days as Mountain View. The U.S. Post Office refused to allow the local post office to use the name because there was already a city of Mountain View in northern California, so the new area came to be called Villa Park. • Villa Park was, for many years, an agricultural area producing grapes, walnuts, apricots, and citrus, which was the major crop for about 60 years.

  4. Villa Park History(continued)Villa Park History (continued) • Valencia orange groves covered most of Villa Park, and by 1912 the Villa Park Orchards Association was packing and shipping citrus fruit all over the world. • Villa Park was incorporated as a city on January 11, 1962, and it became Orange County’s 24th city. • There are no public parks in Villa Park, but the city is known for having a rural feel with winding streets and few sidewalks. Most of the houses are on large lots of half an acre or more, and have pools or tennis courts. • Many of the streets in Villa Park are named after its early pioneers, such as, Brewer, Nichols, Squire, Collins, Morrow, Regan, Knuth, Workman, Adams, Wulff, Abbott, Durfee, Sterling, as well as Hazel, Mary, and Florence.

  5. Places of Interest The Villa Park Library Rockwell’s Café & Bakery Originally opened in 1987, Rockwell’s Cafe & Bakery has been a Villa Park favorite for over 20 years. Named one of Orange County’s Best Bakeries, Rockwell’s specializes in designing and decorating wedding cakes, and custom creative cakes. • The cozy storefront space is right next door to City Hall. • It is the second smallest library in the Orange County system. • Villa Park Library—The Little Library with a Big Heart
