  3. More on Chad! • Chad endured over three decades of civil warfare before winning their independence in August of 1960. • Chad has over 10 million people, and 80% of them live in rural areas.

  4. The People! Population: 10,329,208 Life Expectancy: Around 47 years old Religion: Christian and Muslim French and Arabic are the official languages of Chad.

  5. Government in Chad • The government in Chad is a Republic. • The current leader is President Idriss Deby.

  6. Chad’s Flag • The blue stripe represents sky, hope, agriculture, and the waters in the south of Chad. • The yellow stripe symbolizes sun, and the desert in north Chad. • The red stripe stands for progress, unity, and sacrifice.

  7. Money, Money, Money! The GDP per capita: $1,500 Military Expenditures: 4.2% of GDP Chad is one of the poorest countries in Africa. More than 39% of children are undersized and malnourished.
