PPSS Charter Summary • The purpose of the PPSS is to define, develop and implement solutions to improve the program planning and execution practices throughout Industry and DoD • The initialfocus will be on gaining consistency, predictability and usefulness of program schedules • Specific deliverable products have been indentified as part of the charter: • Develop a joint Industry and DoD schedule management implementation guide • Develop a joint training curriculum for all levels of Industry and DoD management • Develop approach to favorably influence recruiting, training and retention of planning talent • Sponsor an Industry Day for DoD consultants and software tool vendors • Develop a joint cultural change management plan to be implemented across Industry and DoD
The PPSS is governed by a Management Team, led by Industry and DoD Co-Chairs PPSS Governance and Membership

From 14 September ICPM Meeting: PPSS Next Steps Identify prioritized PPSS PRODUCTS and objectives for each 11/09 Status: In process – PRODUCT status provided on following charts Identify working groups for each of the PRODUCTS 11/09 Status: Complete Establish PRODUCT action plans and milestones 11/09 Status: Initiated (ECD year-end 2009) PPSS “Status to Objectives” The PRODUCTS of the PPSS are targeted for completion and implementation within two years

PPSS PRODUCT Development Progress • PPSS PRODUCT: • Develop a set of Generally Accepted Scheduling Principles (GASP) for use in the PPSS governance process • Status: • Final draft GASP has been developed • GASP defines eight principles that describe a valid and effective schedule • 1. Complete 5. Predictive • 2. Traceable 6. Usable • 3. Transparent 7. Resourced • 4. Statused 8. Controlled • Next Steps: • Formally finalize and publish GASP and narratives • Begin applicable governance process using GASP GASP provides a governance framework and forms the basis for other PPSS products
