Wamego, Kansas. My idea for a field trip is to go to Wamego, Kansas and the class could see lots of stuff there. The Old Dutch Mill. The Old Dutch Mill was built in 1879. The Old Dutch Mill grinds wheat into flour and we are able to watch it grind from the outside. . Walter P. Chrysler.

  1. Wamego, Kansas My idea for a field trip is to go to Wamego, Kansas and the class could see lots of stuff there.

  2. The Old Dutch Mill • The Old Dutch Mill was built in 1879. • The Old Dutch Mill grinds wheat into flour and we are able to watch it grind from the outside.

  3. Walter P. Chrysler • We could see Walter P. Chrysler’s home as a boy in Wamego. • He invented the Chrysler vehicles. • He was born in Wamego Kansas.

  4. The Beecher Bible and Rifle Church • We could also see the Beecher Bible and Rifle Church • It was built in 1857. • The purpose of the church was to create settlers in Kansas that could vote to make Kansas a free state.

  5. The World’s Largest Elm Tree • The world’s largest Elm Tree is located in Wamego, Kansas. We could also see that. • A lot of the tree was destroyed by lightning and a pipe-bomb in 1997.

  6. Directions • Start out going NORTH on S DEAN RD toward STACY RD. • Turn RIGHT onto US-50 E / KS-61 N. Continue to follow US-50 E. • Turn LEFT onto KS-61 N / KEN KENNEDY FWY. Continue to follow KS-61 N.

  7. Directions (continued) • Turn LEFT to take the I-135 N / US-81 N ramp. • Turn SLIGHT LEFT onto ramp. • Merge onto I-135 N / US-81 N. • Merge onto I-70 E / US-40 E toward TOPEKA. • Take the KS-99 exit- EXIT 328- toward WAMEGO / ALMA.

  8. Directions (continued) • Turn LEFT onto KS-99. • Turn RIGHT onto 5TH ST. • End at Wamego, KS US
