  1. Analysis of two opening sequences Disturbia I know this is a thriller because in the opening scene starts with a typical ‘father, son activity’ such as fishing and then they are on the way back home from the lake, when a car crash suddenly takes place. While they are talking to his mum on the phone, they hit the car right at the front. The car in front looks like it deliberately moves out of the way as it knows they are driving at a fast pace and also that they are going to crash into the car right at the front. Once he manages to escape out of the car, he realises his dad is still inside and goes back to find him but after no movement from his dad, he realises that he was dead. The main characters is the boy who survives the crash and another main character is his mum. It is set in the somewhere quite far away from their home and they go fishing at a lake and then are in the car when the car crash takes place. Scream 1 I analysed this film because it is one I like and I know it is a horror because it has suspense in the opening scene. It is of a person calling a woman who is making some popcorn and just about to watch a horror film. The person calling is very persistent as he wants to play mind games with the woman by killing her boyfriend. The tense music also gives a horrific atmosphere to the film which is also another reason for knowing it is a horror. The main characters are the woman who is being stalked and the person who is calling her and it is set at the woman’s house. We want to see the rest of the film because the narrative is very appealing and enticing to the audience.
