  2. Objective Gardening classes with planned objectives and goals that are designed for juveniles teaches them more about horticulture. And through hands with experience, the program aims to foster responsibility and a sense of accomplishment. Assessment of benefits brought forth by the program will be conducted through out the program period.

Program instructor: Jung Hui, Hsu Introduction • Master degree of Agriculture, National Taiwan University Field of Research: • landscaping materials, landscaping management, work safety, planning and design Lectured Courses: • landscaping diagramming and application, landscaping and application, basic landscaping design and application, landscaping grafting design and application, landscaping materials, graduation design, gardening therapy (co-lecture) Education: • Bachelor degree of Taiwan University major in landscaping. • National Taiwan University, Horticulture Lecturer (1998 to 2008) • Board of Directors Chinese Landscaping Association (2006 to date) • Seven Star Agricultural Development Association, Executive Officer (1997 to date)

  7. Curriculum Contents • Two hours of class held on the first and third Tuesday of each month, two hours each. Class combines reproduction and the use of plant materials. Themes include plant seed reproduction, gardening skills (separate seedling, cottage, pot changed, combined planting), processing of gardening products, gardening creativity. Themes incorporate everyday life and include edibles, aesthetics. Themes are also matched to various holidays to help promote creativity and emphasize emotions and feelings.

Program contents • from seed to seedlings - learn about trust • from seed to forest waiting - learn about patients • work with flowers - learn about expression of love • work with planting - learn about change and utilizing potential • separate seedling - learn about sharing and giving • work with curving, combined planting - learn about beauty and creativity

  9. Class time and location: • January to December, 2007 at Taiwan Taipei Juvenile Detention Center Classrooms

  10. Predicted results • To knowledge about the plants and its uses and the relationship between nature and environmental factors. Increase living skills, fosters confidence, responsibility, reduce impulse and concentrate the learning. • Increase positive emotions and behavior.
