  3. Creating Facebook Pages Log into Facebook. Go to the Create Pages page within Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php To create a Community Page (a page within Facebook created by fans, but not necessarily by an official representative), enter a Page name, and click Create Community Page. To create an Official Page (a page within Facebook created by an official representative to promote a group or business), click the appropriate type (for a group/department at Stanford, choose either Local Business and then Education, or Brand, Product, or Organization, and then Non-Profit). Enter a Page name, check the box, and then click Create Official Page. 3

  4. Creating Facebook Groups Groups are used to create a collection of people to share items, chat, and email. To create a group: • Log into Facebook. • Go to Create Groups page within Facebook:http://www.facebook.com/groups/ • Click Create Group. Then, give your group a name, add the members, set the privacy, and click Create. 4

  5. Creating Facebook Events Log into Facebook. Go to your department’s Facebook page. Click the Events box on the right-hand column of your home page. Enter the event in the What are you planning? field. A form will open. Enter the appropriate fields, and then click Create Event. 5

  6. Adding Facebook Tabs Log into Facebook. Go to your department’s Facebook page (or your personal Facebook page). Click the + sign next to the existing tabs to see the available tabs. Select the desired tab, or search for another tab. Click that tab to add it to your list of tabs. 6

  7. Using the Boxes Tab The Boxes tab is the home for all of your applications. It is used as a way to quickly and easily launch an application. • Log into Facebook. • Go to your department’s Facebook page (or your personal Facebook page). • Click the Boxes tab to see a listing of the applications you use. 7

  8. Creating a Blog Post (Note) There are several ways you can use Facebook as a blog. One way is to use the application Notes: • Log into Facebook. • Go to your department’s Facebook page(or your personal Facebook page). • Click the Notes tab. • Click Write a Note. • In the Title field, enter a title. • In the Body field, enter the body of thepost. • In the Tags field, enter any desired tags(to categorize your blog entry). If you taga person, they will be notified that you havetagged them! • In the Photos field, add a photo (if desired). • Choose the desired audience for your post. • Click Publish to publish your post. 8
