Features • Accurately and precisely applies up to 1000 in·lbs of torque to MiR valve sockets with digital readout • Folds away for compact storage or portability on your space suit utility belt • Hinge keeps tool in one part - no fumbling • Lightweight - hollow extension shaft and tapered handle

  3. Manufacturing process Handle - • cut to appropriate length • mill flats on sides, top, & bottom (4 total) • mill flats on instron attachment (2) • drill instron attachment hole • turn taper into handle on lathe • round off corners on end on the belt sander Extension shaft - • cut to appropriate length • hollow out interior on both sides (2 holes, + 2(number of pilot holes)) Socket - • cut to appropriate length • turn 1" section to a 1" diameter cylinder • hollow out interior (1 hole + pilots) • face socket side • sand down socket walls to just less than 1" x 1" Interface - • cut stock down to 3" x 2" x 1.5" block (2 bandsaw cuts) • mill out 2 L-shaped cuts to form "T" shape • turn taper on the lathe • mill out U-shaped cut from each side (6 milled surfaces) • mill flat to fit handle in folded position

Final Assembly Final assembly - • match drill hole through extension and socket • press fit pin through extension and socket • match drill hole through extension and interface • press fit pin through extension and interface • match drill hole through interface and handle • loosely secure pin through interface and handle with duct tape • finish major surfaces (sand downextension shaft, interface, and handle) • apply linear strain gauge

  5. Specifications • Apply up to 1000 in·lbs of torque • Stores compactly into a 3 in. diameter tube • Fits a 1 in. square valve socket • Torque measurement provided by a high quality linear strain gauge • Instron attachment point provides handy keychain ring
