History Honor Flight (founded by Earl Morse)made it’s first flight to D.C. in May 2005 Honor Flight Historic Triangle Virginia was founded in September 2008 when we saw a need for funds to support local WWII Vets so they could visit ‘their’ Memorial We became an official Honor Flight Hub on December 17, 2008. HFHTVA Mission 1 executed on 30 May 2009

UNIFORM OF THE DAY • Veteran: green jacket MUST be • worn whenever you are off the bus • Guardian: yellowjacket and/or • t-shirt MUST be worn whenever • you are off the bus • Comfortable closed-toe shoes; • NO FLIP FLOPS • - Watch the weather; you might • want to bring a change of clothes • if there is rain in the forecast • Backpack or something similar to • carry water, snacks, whatever • - Bottom line – be comfortable

DEPARTURE Southside: Indian River Road Park and Ride Staff and Guardians arrive 0430; Veterans arrive 0445 0515 Departure Peninsula: Colonial Heritage Community Center Staff and Guardians arrive 0515; Veterans arrive 0545 Southside buses will arrive approx 0615 0730 Departure after departure ceremony Mechanicsville: VFW Battlefield Post 9808 Staff and Guardians arrive 0615; Veterans arrive 0645 0810 Departure after departure ceremony

MEALS • BREAKFAST • Peninsula/Southside – on the bus (Chick-Fil-A) • Mechanicsville – VFW Post 9808 before departure • LUNCH • Famous Dave’s at the WWII Memorial • DINNER • Cafeteria at the National Museum of the Marine Corps • Menu options: Meat Loaf – Chicken and Dumplings – Cobb Salad – Vegetarian Salad (salads are entrees and not included with the meat loaf or chicken and dumplings)

  7. NEXT STOP KOREAN WAR VETERANS MEMORIAL

  8. NEXT STOP NATIONAL WORLD WAR II MEMOIALL

  9. NEXT STOP UNITED STATES AIR FORCE MEMORIAL

  10. NEXT STOP ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY

  13. PHOTOS YOU ARE WELCOME TO BRING YOUR OWN CAMERA, BUT THERE WILL BE A PHOTOGRAPHER ON EACH BUS . . . THOSE PICTURES WILL BE PROVIDED TO EVERY VETERAN AND GUARDIAN AT THE MISSION 12 SOCIAL VETERAS WILL ALSO BE PROVIDED WITH A COMPLIMENTARY DISPOSABLE CAMERA (THESE DON’T ALWAYS WORK VERY WELL)
