  2. While we wait to begin….. • Please review your class roster • Check your name/make corrections • Talk among fellow room parents about any changes in Lead/Co-Leads that need to be made • If there is no Lead for class, please consider volunteering!

Lead Room Parent Responsibilities • Serve as resource for class parents • Disseminate information through Living Tree to class parents • Introduce yourself to your teacher • Make sure he/she has the support they need • Help organize class parties • Winter Party (Dec), Valentine’s Day, and End-of-Year • Work with Grade Level Coordinator to assist • Organize class H’Owl Booth • Arrange for parent volunteers to work the booth • Coordinate teacher recognition • Find volunteer to cover class during Teacher Appreciation lunches (Dec and May) • Organize Teacher Appreciate Week gifts (May) • Collect $$ for teacher gifts (birthday, Dec and May)

Lead Room Parents • Disseminate Information to Classroom Parents • Begin with letter sent home in Wed. folder to ALL parents • Ask your teacher for parent’s email addresses • Email the letter; send hard copy home – JUST THIS ONCE • If parent has email, you will use Living Tree to communicate with them all year. • If a parent does not have email, you must make a hard copy for them for all correspondence • Be Green – use small flyers

Room Parent Responsibilities • Teacher Support • Copying, Laminating, Book Binding • Reading to Children in classroom • Parent Readers, Edit writing, Math “Pull out”help • Stuff Wednesday Folders (for hard copies such as lunch menus) • Buying needed supplies for the classroom • Taking home cut work • The PTA helps cover the cost of the copiers at Doss so feel free to copy freely in the workroom. But let teachers go first. • Lead will check with teacher to be sure they are getting the support they need.

Room Parent Responsibilities Classroom Parties Grade Level Coordinator (GLC) will host meeting in Oct/Nov to ask all LEADS to help with the party planning • Winter Party (Dec 19 or 20) • Valentine’s Party (Feb 14) • End of Year Party (June 4 or 5) GLC will have met with Teacher Lead and will stick to party plan Ask for help from all classroom parents • Assign workers to help run the parties Re-usable Plates/Cups GLC will prepare a flyer to post on Living Tree and go home in Wednesday folders inviting all Parents to all 3 parties

H’ Owl – Fall Family Carnival • Oct. 27, 2:00-5:00pm • A booth will be assigned to your class for your parents to help run. • Lead will communicate with ALL Classroom Parents about needs for your assigned class booth • Coordinate with other class Lead if you have a “partner class” running the booth • Lead will set up an “event”, through Living Tree, for 30 min shifts (set up at 1:30; clean up at 5:00 and 30 min shifts in between). All room parents will sign up for at least one shift. • If shifts are not all filled, you can ask H’Owl“Volunteers” Chair for assistance • Be positive and generate excitement for the H’Owl!

Room Parent Responsibilities • Teacher appreciation/gifts • Gifts typically given for Birthday, Winter Break and End-Of-Year • Teacher gifts are OPTIONAL; Leads will ask for whatever is comfortable for the family. If asked further, then can suggest $5-10 a family. • Do not ask parents to contribute for all 3 up front. • Will also need to organize class for Teacher Appreciation in May. Your GLC will send you suggestions/guidelines to stick to so we are fair and consistent. • Must recruit coverage for Teacher Appreciation Luncheons (Winter Break and End-of-Year) or provide it yourself. • Teacher favorites are ONLINE at www.dosspta.org. • Teacher birthdays are on scrolling calendar.

Treasurer’s Tips • PTA Office has everything you need • Every form you need areon the PTA webpage • Don’t pay sales tax, or don’t get reimbursed • Check requests process • Must have 2 signatures, not related by blood or marriage • Receipt/invoice must be attached • Make sure all room parents who make purchases know this process
