Two Point Perspective Designing a city scape
What is Perspective? • The appearance of objects in depth as perceived by normal binocular vision. • It allows us to show/draw things as they actually appear in life • As things get closer to us they get larger • As things get further away from us, they get smaller • It’s a tool that allows us to do this
How does this apply to the Elemetns of art? • In a two point perspective drawing, you will use line and shape (in the drawing alone). Later we will add textures and color as well • Remember all art use the Elements of art • Line, shape, texture, value, color, line and form. • You can use them by themselves or in combination.
There are two techniques • One point perspective and two point perspective • All show a horizon line and a vanishing point
One Point Perspective • This has a vanishing point (ONE) and a horizon line. • To draw one-point perspective, we arrange our subject so that one set of lines has a vanishing point right in front of us
One point perspective drawing • This is a box, drawn using one point perspective This is what your paper would look like, to the left.
Two Point Perspective • Building showing two-point perspective. You can see two sides, right? This is the technique you use, when you see two sides of a building. • In perspective drawing, every set of parallel lines has its own vanishing point.
