  3. FORMULAS To KNOW!

  4. Practice recalling the formulas for area and perimeter. Fold a sheet of paper into thirds. Label: Shape, Perimeter, Area

  5. Draw and label each shape and write the formulas. See the example below. Side Side Use s for the length of each side when writing formulas.

  6. width length Use w for width and l for length when writing formulas.

  7. d height a c base Use a, b, c and d for the length of the sides.

  8. a c height b Use a, b and c for the length of the sides and h for height.

  9. base 2 c height base 1 Use a, b1, c , and b2 for the length of the sides.

  10. Diameter Use D for the diameter when writing the formulas.

  11. Draw and label each shape and write the formulas. See the example below. Side Side Use s for the length of each side when writing formulas.

  12. width length Use w for width and l for length when writing formulas.

  13. d height a c base Use a, b, c and d for the length of the sides.

  14. base 2 c height base 1 Use a, b1, c , and b2 for the length of the sides.

  15. a c height b Use a, b and c for the length of the sides and h for height.

  16. Diameter Use D for the diameter when writing the formulas.

  17. GEOMETRY GREG Find the perimeter or circumference and the area of each part. Label your answers correctly. Use cm when measuring.

  18. On all geometry problems: Name the shape. Write the formula. Substitute Solve Add the units.

  19. 1. Name shape 2. Write formula 3. Substitute 4. Solve 5. Add Units

  20. To find the area or perimeter of Irregular Figures, follow these steps: 1. Redraw the shapes 2. Name the shapes 3. Write the formulas 4. Substitute 5. Solve 6. Add or Subtract as needed 7. Label units

  21. The area doubles. The area triples. The area is quadruped.

  22. The area is multiplied by 5. The area is multiplied by 10.

  23. The area is quadrupled. The area is multiplied by 9. The area is multiplied by 16.

  24. DRAW A PICTURE OF EACH PROBLEM

  25. Complete questions on handout.

  26. EXIT TICKET 3 things I learned from today are … 2 questions I still have are … 1 way I see things differently from today Homework: KNOW YOUR FORMULAS! Math textbook page 747, #40-54 textbook page 748, #1-14
