  2. What is Augmented Reality? • Digitally enhanced methods of interaction within real world. • Can include video, sound, graphics, and more. • Differs from Virtual Reality. • Common AR applications include heads-up displays (HUDs), location services, education, games, and communication.

  3. Heads-Up Displays (HUD) • Used as the primary navigational display for fighter jets.

  4. Heads-Up Displays (HUD) • Slowly being introduced into passenger vehicles. • Garmin HUD • Factory installed HUD (BMW, Lexus, Cadillac, etc.) • Various mobile applications

  6. Flaws in (consumer) HUDs • Too many features can be distracting. • Too much detail or vibrant colors can also be distracting. • Hard to see in certain lighting situations. • Not necessarily practical or safe for daily driving.
