  2. Storage Update • What do we have? • How full is the facility? • How long will the space last? • When can we transfer material? • Who do we contact?

  4. How full is the facility? • Collection size:102,084 LF (~1.02 million volumes) • Available empty shelf space: 18,918 LF (~189,180 volumes) • Total shelf space in facility: 121,002 LF (~1.2 million volumes)

How long will the space last? • Currently available: 189,180 volumes • 2002/2003 ARL stats: 3,776 bound volumes added to Storage (last year transfers allowed) • Does not include addition of Special Collections material (1,000 volumes/year?) • Known space needs: Haskins Collection, AFA, Journalism, MSL/Gov Docs (???)

  6. When can we transfer material? • Several immediate and short-term projects beginning at ALF • Move all material that is above 12 feet high • Develop/implement plan for storage of microform cabinets • Integrate Storage collections to delete overflow areas • Develop workflows to begin processing by size • Expected completion • Best estimate: about 2 years
