  2. Intro to our Task We started this assignment by choosing to develop our task around the alphabet, how to teach it to early learners and how technology can be incorporated to enhance their learning. From this basis we chose the following aspects to focus on: formation of upper and lower case, sounds and associated words. We then compiled technological resources available for the alphabet and began to develop our task.

  4. The Task We have aimed our task at year 1 students who have been learning the alphabet. Our task is to assign students with a letter of the alphabet each and give them the task of drawing the letter in capital and lower case, saying the sound it makes and a word which begins with that letter. The drawing process will be recorded and overlaid with the audio in a powerpoint presentation. The students will then be shown all the clips in a mixed up order and given the task as a whole to arrange them into alphabetical order. Once it is complete the students will present their final video. This task is designed to allow students to investigate their own letter, learn from their fellow students and give them a sense of pride in their contribution to the final product.

  5. Use of Wikispaces We have used our wikispaces pages to create a list of internet based resources (Interactive whiteboard programs, games, worksheets) which the students can use to enhance their knowledge of the alphabet, the sounds each letter makes, the shape each letter is, and the alphabetical order. We also included a basic lesson plan to outline the items and skills needed to complete our task as a class group. We also added a space where students and teachers can communicate about their tasks.
