Thanksgiving Day – Facts & Trivia • First Thanksgiving was 1621 and it lasted 3 days. • In 1789, George Washington proclaimed Thanksgiving Day and it passed by Congress. • 1941 Congress declared Thanksgiving Day fall on the fourth Thursday of November. • Benjamin Franklin is believed to have wanted the turkey as the national bird.

  3. Thanksgiving Day – Facts & Trivia • 90% of U.S. homes will eat Turkey (45 Million) • The turkey can run 25 m.p.h. • Stuffing? 50% cook inside the turkey, 50% out • Leftovers? Top 5: Sandwiches, Stew/Soup, Salad, Casserole and Stir-fry • 39 Million Americans travel 50+ miles that day • On the way home, at least half will claim the heartburn is more family than food related
