  2. IGEL UMD – Universal MultiDisplay • Features • Connect multiple IGEL Thin Clients to one device supporting multiple displays • Only available for IGEL Linux • Multidisplay scenarios • Display large amounts of information simultaneously on one workplace • Monitoring workplaces • Public facing ad displays

  3. IGEL Universal MultiDisplay - Demo • Multidisplay solution which adds displays attached to multiple UDs to one desktop controlled by a single UD5 (master) • Supports up to 8 displays Network Satellite (UD2) Master (UD5)

  4. IGEL Universal MultiDisplay • Requirements Master • UD5 3rd Generation (UD5-x30 ) • Additional PCIe network card for dedicated multidisplay networkincluded in Starter Kit (Intel EXPI9301CTBLK Gigabit CT) • Display license for each additional display • Requirements Satellite • No special hardware required – all UD devices can be used as satellites • Included in every feature package • Availability • Linux only • All UD devices (no UDC)

  5. IGEL Universal MultiDisplay • Licensing • License per additional display • License is stored and managed on the master device • Pricing • Starter Kit includes built-in network card for UD5 + 1x display license 49,- € • 1x display license 29,- € • Availability • General availability: May 2012

  6. FrequentlyAskedQuestions • 1 Master, 1 Satellite configuration: Do the master and the satellites have to be connected via Crossover LAN-cable?No a normal patch cable is sufficient. • Is it a UD-LX hardware solution only?Yes. UDC is not supported! • Do I need minimum an entry license?Yes • Do I have to switch on the master and satellites separately? No, the satellites boot via Wake on LAN command. • Which display resolution is maximum for two/four/six/eight screens?1920x1200 • Is Pivot supported by the satellites?Yes

  7. FrequentlyAskedQuestions • What accessories are needed? One PCIe network interface card (NIC), Lan/Crossover cables and probably a switch/hub if more than one satellite must be connected. •  Do we have accessories in portfolio?Yes, see Starter Kit on slide 5, includes network card + license, NO switch, NO LAN cable. • Does other NIC than INTEL xxx work?Yes, but not officially supported by IGEL • Are there specific reasons for using UD3, UD5 or UD9 instead of UD2 as satellite? In general graphic intense applications above the task worker level might require more graphic performance even on the satellite. Due to this UD3, UD5 or UD 9 might make sense. The UD5 in particular might be focused if 4 digital outputs are a must have. UD9 might be used in space constraint environments.
