  6. The Christian calendar starts from the birth of Jesus.

  7. The years before the birth of Jesus are known as ‘BC’, which stands for Before Christ.

  8. The years after the birth of Jesus are known as ‘AD’, which stands for Anno Domini. This is Latin for ‘the year of the Lord’.

  9. No one knows what Jesus looked like. There are no pictures of him made during his lifetime or even for about 150 years afterwards.

  10. In early Christian times, making images of Jesus was banned because people believed it was like making images of God. Sometimes people used the symbol of the lamb to represent Jesus instead.

  11. Then the people who ran the Church said that Jesus should be shown as a man, not as a symbol. This was meant to help people understand the greatness of God and to feel that Jesus suffered, just as any other person would.

  12. Artists have different ideas about what Jesus looked like.

  13. People who knew Jesus wrote recounts of the things that he did. These recounts are collected together in a book called the Bible.

  14. So, how much did you know about Jesus?
