What questions can I ask? • One question you can ask is how places are similar and how they are different. • ITT – Brainstorm things that can be compared between places e.g. population (how many people live there) • A/B pairs – Brainstorm things that can be compared between places • GW – Share your ideas in a group

  3. Look carefully at the following images

  4. Activity – Compare (similarities) and contrast (differences) the two photographs

  5. What questions can we ask about this scene? What are these buildings used for? Why are these people attracted here? How high is this land? How do local people earn money? What is the population? Why is it flat here? How do people affect this area? Where is this place? What is the main type of industry in this area How busy is this road?

  6. Homework: Comparing places in the world • Look up some statistics to compare some features in the UK with the same features elsewhere in the world e.g. • The highest mountain • The longest river • The biggest city
