  8. Developmental Pathway CCDM 100N College Prep CCDM 103N PreAlgebra CCDM 114N Algebra Skills (or 112+113) MATH 120 Intermediate Algebra

  9. Variations on CCDM 114N • Some sections of CCDM 114N (DE1—DE3) are being taught Emporium style, meaning self-paced, with option of completing through 120 • Some sections are taught as mini-semesters with 120. Special sections for ACES (DA5), ED (DA6) and Business (DI4) • Some are combined with 103 (DA2 for ACES) • Others are Aggie Pathway (combined with CCDE etc)

  10. Keeping Main Campus students on Main Campus • AS 103, Quantitative Foundations began in Fall 2016. • Modeled after UNIV 102, Quantitative Reasoning at UNM • Structure was negotiated with Provost • Goals: Keep students on Main Campus, curriculum tailored to student needs using Adaptive LEarning in Knowledge Spaces (ALEKS).

  11. Other changes on Main Campus • Major revisions to curriculum of • 120 Intermediate Algebra • 121G College Algebra • 190G Precalculus • Overseen by Mary Ballyk (tenure track) and Abby Train (Math Success Center Director) • Substantial use of peer learning assistants; students actively engaged and accountable • Goal: Success in first course means very likely success in next course.

  12. Pass rates (A,B,C) and need for data • About half of F’s take Final.: large percent of F’s are de facto withdrawals • Don’t have transition pass rates for CCDM 114N -> 120 • Unable to pull out major factors for subpopulations

  13. Variations, hypotheses and Questions • Corequisite models/accelerated paths: • Expect good results if GenEd requirement fulfilled with next course. • Results may not be as good if multiple subsequent courses needed to meet G-requirement.
