Raina said that the impact the former Australia captain had on Team India, especially while chasing totals was praiseworthy. Image source by twitter Greg Chappell's coaching tenure was from 2005-2007 but it was filled with controversy. Moreover, he made headlines for the way he handled the captain Sourav Ganguly, who was dropped from the team at that time as well. But Raina admitted how Chappell had influenced that generation which later won the 2011 World Cup. In his autobiography, Suresh Raina wrote: "In my opinion, Greg deserves a lot of credit for shaping that generation of Indian players. The fruits of the seeds he had sown were seen much later when we won the 2011 World Cup. I think somewhere along the line, despite all the controversies around his coaching career, he taught India how to win and the importance of winning." Notably, Suresh Raina made his international debut in 2005 under the coaching of Greg Chappell. Apart from him, MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir also started doing well around that time and under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid, India won 14 consecutive games while chasing totals, which was undoubtedly a great feat for a team that used to crumble under pressure. And, Suresh Raina gave credit to the captain and Greg Chappell for that.
