  2. Make A First Aid Kit • Step 1 is to prepare your own emergency kit for your home, car and workplace.

  3. Disinfectants (Soap) Sterile Pads (Eye) Roller Gauze Paper Tape Band Aids Elastic Bandages Antibiotic ointment Aspirin / Tylenol Tweezers / Needle Scissor / Safety Pins Eye Dropper Disposable Gloves (2) Thermometer Pen and Note Paper Phone Numbers First Aid Guide First Aid Kit Contents

  4. Remember Include a small supply of any important prescription or non-prescription drugs used by family members Antacids Laxatives Blood Pressure Pills Insulin Rx for Allergies

  5. 2. MAKE A FAMILY PLAN • Plan for Family Members to have Escape Routes from the House • Decide where to Reunite • Identify out-of-area “Contact” Person • Prepare Copies of Important Documents for Storage Off-Site or on Portable Disk

  8. Decide Where to Reunite Choose Two Places • Outside Your Home in Neighborhood • Outside your Neighborhood • In a Park • In an Open Area

  10. Important Documents Passport Drivers License Financial Statements Deeds Birth Certificates Safer Storage Sites Safe Deposit Box Out-of-Town Friends or Relatives The “Cloud” Flash Drives Wills Safeguard Copies of Important Documents

  12. Other “Shelters in Place” Office After Quake Car Isolated in Snow

  13. Organize to “Shelter in Place” Plan to be self-sufficient in your home with limited or no utilities (gas, electricity, water) for a minimum of 3 days and possibly much longer

  14. Organize your Home Supplies • Food / Water • Clothing / Bedding • Cooking / Heating • Radio / Communication • Tools/Minor House Repair • Sanitation Supplies

  15. Organize your Food and Water Accessible Supplies: • Use familiar dried, packaged and canned foods from your everyday stock • Energy bars and high protein snacks • Store 1 gallon water per person per day • Water purification tablets or bleach

  17. Communications • Battery operated radio and batteries • HAM or FSR radio • Hand crank phone chargers

  18. Organize your HomeTools and Supplies • Ladder, wheelbarrow, rake • Claw hammer, nails, screwdriver & screws, pliers, crow bar • Heavy duty staple gun, staples • Plastic sheeting and tarps • Adjustable wrenches, sledge hammer • Plywood, electrical tape, duct tape
