  2. OBJECTIVES • Ride on existing gatherings , Media , Social Media , Sunday School / Madrasah • Engaging in clean – up campaigns • Engage school clubs in environmental issues

NATIONAL PRESIDENTIAL CLEAN –UP LAUNCH 2018 Fatima Zahra Women’s Organisation participated in the Presidential Clean- up launch which was held on the 5th of December in Harare , Hatfield – Machipisa . Based on the theme “ ZERO TOLERANCE TO LITTER ” . Main issues • 2020 goals to reach the state of zero tolerance to litter • Limit vending activities at the Central Business District (CBD). • Authorising clean – up campaigns to be done on last Fridays of every month

  5. YOUTH IN ENERGY CONFERENCE 2018 On the 11th of December 2018 the organisation also got an opportunity to participate in the Energy and Climate Change Youth Symposium . Main Discussion • Climate change in Southern Africa • Sustainable energy use • Challenges to encounter in adoption phase

  6. Solutions • Re –afforestation and conservation of the remaining forests. • Technological advancement to a more sustainable phase. • Awareness campaigns and educating new generations. • Policy advocacy , in favour of environmental conservation.

  7. WORLD INTERFAITH HARMONY WEEK On the 5th of February 2019 , Fatima Zahra Women’s Organisation hosted a seminar during the world interfaith harmony week . However the main theme of the seminar was Unity amongst interfaith youths . Inspiring them to consider one another as family as there is no togetherness without “ UNITY” . As a tradition amongst different cultures and religions , whenever unity is established , it is bonded with a tree , so a Tree of Harmony was planted . The main reason of choosing a tree as a symbol of unity was to enlighten the youth on how important a tree is to mankind .

  8. BIODIVESITY WORKSHOP In collaboration with Zimbabwe Youth Biodiversity Network , the Org managed to hold an environmental workshop on the 21st of March 2019 . The initiative was to engage Students in more viable world issues which are affecting our communities . The main discussions were on : • How best can we conserve the environment surrounding us . • Global warming , pertaining to the current encounter with cyclone IDAI . • How best can our students raise the alarm of environmental conservation in our communities .

CHALLENGES FACED DURING THE SEASON • Finance • Interference by political demos On-going progress • Awaiting approvals from well wishers to fund projects Some of the projects include : Women’s education on environmental issues Initiating handcraft projects to meet the 3Rs Youth engagement in environmental activities which include , debates , seminars , workshops .
