  4. I understand that attending residence hall programs is voluntary. (55.5%) (36.7%) (5.8%) (1.4%) (0.6%)

  5. When I participated in residence hall programs or activities, I felt my personal beliefs, opinions, and values were respected. (27.9%) (34.7%) (34.5%) (2.1%) (0.8%)

  6. Residence Life staff members respect my personal beliefs, opinions, values, and privacy. (41.9%) (38.6%) (17.1%) (1.9%) (0.6%)

  7. As a result of Residence Life efforts (e.g. bulletin boards, recycling bins, energy use reminders, etc.) I learned more about environmental sustainability. (16.3%) (37.5%) (26.5%) (12.9%) (6.9%)

  8. Residence hall activities such as intramurals, pizza parties, movie nights, dances and ice cream socials provided many opportunities for me to meet other students. (16.8%) (34.7%) (30.5%) (11.7%) (6.3%)

  13. Focus Groups • Responses support data collected via the online survey in regards to: • Voluntary • Respecting views • Environmental Sustainability

Focus Group • Suggestions • Continue and increase funding for the social events. • More competitive events between floors (e.g. Door decorating) Not just sports. • Promote interaction in the suite environment • More unique educational events. • Listen to needs and interests of residence and offer programs to meet those needs. • Respect difference across dorms • Class • Types of Dorms • Promote informal interaction by resident assistant with residents.

Overall Findings • Does not appear the major concerns from last year were evident in the Fall • Voluntary • Respect of Views • Environmental Sustainability • More Focus on the social experience for residents and more funds available for such programs. • Offer programs in which students are interested. • High “No Opinion” Responses
