  2. Rules for County Photography Contest • Photo must be of an OHCE activity and members, in color, with photo no larger than 5 X 7 inches. • Photography must be taken by an OHCE member during the previous year. • Mount photo on mat board, do not attach to a folder. • LABEL should be placed on the back of the mat board: include Name, County, and District. Also place a label briefly describing the activity pictured and place on front of the matting. • Each county may submit 3 entries (may or may not be taken by the same person). • Photos become the property of OHCE for promotional purposes.

  3. Rules for Life Story Essay Contest • Two entries per county, one entry per person. • Entry must be written by an OHCE member in good standing. • Entries will only be judged if they are placed in a 3 brad paper folder with pockets for 8 1/2 x 11” white paper. Information is needed in the following order: Life Story, Name of Author, Address, County, District, and year written on the upper right hand corner of the label affixed to the folder. • The essay must be on typewriter or computer using Times New Roman font 12 size and double spaced with a 1 inch left hand margin. It should be 1-3 pages in length. • Do not include photographs, clip art, or news clippings. • All life essays submitted for state judging must include the signed Life Essay “Release Form” statement by the author giving OHCE the right to read publicly and publish without further financial compensation to the author. • County winner essays must be submitted to the OHCE Awards Chair by February 1st.

  4. OHCE Member Awards • Criteria for all award applications: • The candidate must be a member in good standing of OHCE. • No member who is currently holding an elected state office may be a candidate. • Specific to each award: • Young Member of the Year: • The candidate must be no older than 35 years of age as of January 1st of the current year. • The member must be active on a local or county level, serving as an officer, or on at least one committee. • Rookie of the Year: • The candidate must have been a member for no more than 4 years. • The member must be active on a local or county level, serving as an officer, or on at least one committee.

  5. OHCE Member Awards • 3. Member of the Year: • The candidate must be a member in good standing in OHCE for more than four (4) years. • Must have served as an officer on local, county, or state level within the past three years. • Must be or have been elected or appointed to serve on a local, county, or state committee within the past three (3) years. • 4. Heart of OHCE: • The candidate’s accomplishments promoting family values in the following areas: a. Educational involvement within the family, b. Moral value, c. Responsibility. • The candidate’s accomplishments in the community in the following areas: a. Volunteer work-civic organizations, youth, library, hospital, etc. b. Leadership, c. Environmental activism, d. Education programs, tutoring, etc. e. Political. • The candidate’s involvement in promoting OHCE in the community.

  6. Criteria for Member Awards Heart of OHCE, Rookie Member, Young Member, and Member of the Year • Place a label on the outside right hand corner of the 3 brad paper folder. Put name of award being applied for, Name, County, and District. The folder needs to have two inside pockets. • Page 1:Picture of you (or your family) and your name. • Page 2:Completed application forms. • Page 3 & 4: Story, Times New Roman font size 12, double spaced with a 1” left hand margin. Story should be written in third party. • Page 5: Participation Sheet • NO PICTURE, CLIPART, OR NEWSPAPER CLIPPINGS! • Type a short, double spaced paragraph about yourself to be used as an introduction at the District and State meetings (if you are a winner). Put this paragraph in the pocket, inside the front cover.

  7. Judging Criteria CRITERIA FOR JUDGING: YOUNG MEMBER, ROOKIE, AND MEMBER OF THE YEAR: OHCE PARTICIPATION 75% COMMUNITY SERVICE 15% OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES 10% CRITERIA FOR JUDGING: HEART OF OHCE: OHCE PARTICIPATION 15% COMMUNITY SERVICE 75% OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES 10% Refer to Award Applications for more information. OHCE Week THIS REPORT IS NOT AN AWARD BOOK AND WILL BE JUDGED FOR YOUR MOST RECENT OHCE WEEK EVENT • Place 1 white, typed label on the front of a new, 3-brad paper folder in the upper right hand corner • The folder label should include: OHCE Week, Local Group (if applicable), County, and District. OHCE Week Report Label Example OHCE Week Local Group Name County District

  9. 1 Page Report of your Activities(0-10 Points) • Use 1” margins and Times New Roman Font size 12 • 1 page of pictures (limited to 1 page) • Limit of 9 pictures – may be shingled • 1 page of newspaper articles / other • Short Summary Paragraph of the project • Place summary in the pocket of the folder

  12. Summary Paragraph (+5 or -5 Points) • If you include the paragraph, you will get 5 points! • If you do not include the paragraph, you will have 5 points deducted!
