  2. Stephen Hawking was born on January 8, 1942, and is still alive to this day. • He was born in Oxford, England, United Kingdom to Dr. Frank and Isobel Hawking.

  3. He studied in St. Albans high school for Girls (Boys were allowed to study there until the age of 10) until he joined University College, Oxford, for his education in science.

  4. One area to which he made major contributions was the theory of black holes. Initially it was thought that nothing could escape from a black hole. He showed that they are not actually black and also that they can emit many types of particles. Ironically, these particles are known as types of Hawking radiation. • The areas in which Hawking is most known for in are astrophysics and quantum mechanics.

  5. Family life and inspirers • Stephen Hawking’s chief inspirer from when he was young was a teacher named DikranTahta. • Hawking's first wife, Jane Hawking, cared for him until 1991 when the couple separated, reportedly because of the pressures of fame and his increasing disability. They had three children: Robert, Lucy, and Timothy.
