  1. Welcome to Oakland Catholic High School! Spirituality, Scholarship, Service

  2. MondayApril 8 DAY 4 SPIRIT WEEK

  3. Today is Dress-Up Day and the beginning of Spirit Week. • We will have Mass this afternoon at 1:15. • Please return to homeroom after 9th period and then proceed to the Cathedral for Mass.

  4. All Student Ambassadors who will be helping with the building dedication must see Ms. Coleman at the end of the announcements.

  5. Spirit Week Wear your tie-dye t-shirts and tennis shoes tomorrow and prepare for the scavenger hunt and the Quiz Bowl!

  6. Congratulations to Grace McHale and Peter Belechek. They were the winners of Dance with the Vikings. Thanks to all who attend the event on Friday. The turn out was great for the dancing with the Vikings and we made about 1 thousand dollars for our charity. Congratulations and thanks to Allie Walker, AndieSeabrooke, Olivia DiMaio, Kailey Joyce, and Emma Anselmo for planning the event.

  7. SPANISH CLUB • There will be a dinner at Mad Mex on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Meet in room 215 at 2:45. We will return to school by 5:00 or your ride can pick you up at the restaurant. • Sign up in room 215 by April 5, 2013

  8. The members of the freshman volleyball team need to see Mrs. Haslett in J101 immediately following announcements. 

  9. Track Results • Taylor McCorkle finished in first place in the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash at the South Hills Classic on Saturday.  • Strong performances were also given by JaylaCoppetta, Sophie Means, Maria DeRenzo, Emma Doerfler, and Stephanie Franciscus.  • Of special note was Olivia Rowe, who participated in 4 individual events. Congratulations, Girls!

  10. Softball Results On Friday, OC softball lost in 5 innings 15-4.  Andrea Sciulli has an inside the park homerun. On Saturday, the Softball team traveled to Woodland Hills and OC lost by a score of 4 to 3. Go, Eagles!!!

  11. Attention, Juniors All members of the Junior Class are invited to visit the Guidance Office College Room to review the many resources on colleges.  College view books, CollegeBoard books, and internet sources are available. Stop by during any free period.

  12. Spirit week dress themes 2013 • Monday- Dress up day- mass • Tuesday- wear tie dye- tie dye Tuesday! Wear tennis shoes for scavenger hunt • Wednesday- Clash day- wear a clashing outfit • Thursday- Preppy day • Friday- Class color dress down- wear tennis shoes for activities • Follow dress code handbook rules or wear your uniform!

  13. Do you want a spirit-filled experience leading you to a new and different encounter with God?   • Sign up for the NET retreat!   • Get details from Ms. Farrell or Ms. Dorrie.    

  14. "ALL JOA Scholars should read check their email and read any messages from Mrs. Kasunic thoroughly!  • These emails have to do with graduation or continuing in JOA next year."

  15. Attention, Seniors Attention Seniors Please submit all college acceptance, denial, and waitlist letters to the Guidance Office as soon as possible.

  16. Prom contract and Cedar Point permission forms are now available in the main office and room 211. • Dresses will be approved by Ms. Teeters and Mrs. Riegelnegg in rooms 211 and the back of the library. • Tickets go on sale beginning Monday, April 8 in room 211.

  17. The second annual 'Race Against Cancer' is going to be held Saturday, May 4th. • Anyone interested may pick up a brochure in the office.

  18. MAPS is sponsoring a gently used blanket and children's book drive. • There will be a donation box located outside of the Guidance Office. • The drive will run for the next few weeks  and all donations will benefit  "Angel's Place" which provides child care for Pittsburgh's impoverished families.

  20. April is HeadandNeckCancerAwareness Month • Tobacco and alcohol use are major risk factors for head and neck cancers • 3% of cancers in the United States • Commonly found in men over the age of 50 • Ribbons colors are burgundy and ivory
