The Basics • Grants Budgeting is being replaced by Proposal Development System (PDS) • Same functionality as GBud • Additional functionality to do electronic submissions. • Roll out begins 10/8. • Everyone to convert to PDS regardless of whether they have an electronic submission. • eSub applications will be downloaded from Grants.gov.

Proposal Development System • New component menu screen
Download a FOA • Proposal Menu -- Download Tab
Where PDS fits • eSub for NIH or NSF through grants.gov (including R01 for 2/1/07) – Use PDS for entire application. • eSub for other agencies or non fed – Use PDS for budget & compliance, PureEdge to assemble & submit. • Paper application -- Use PDS for budget & compliance.
Roll Out • Converting existing GBud users, then adding new users. • 3 groups over 5 weeks 10/9 – 11/20 • Group 1 – 10/9 / Depts with eSub for 11/1 / Reviewers • Group 2 – 11/6 / More active depts • Group 3 -- 11/20 / Less active depts • Training • 2 classes • No eSub -- everyone • eSub – as applicable • Group 1 9/28 – 10/5 • Group 2 10/23 – 11/3 • Group 3 11/6 – 11/17
Roles – who does what • Biggest change with PDS – entire application assembled and submitted from PDS. • No system driven functionality restrictions. • PI can do as little or as much as desired. • We anticipate most current work distribution to remain the same. • New users must complete AIS security form.
