  4. Lineage • Born Amara Dey in 1465, met Chaitanya in 1514, 5 years after His sannyas • Educated by grandfather, Mukunda Dhatta, who held high post in Hussein Shah’s government • Studied under Sarvabhauma Bhatacharya

  5. Knew Parsi & Arabi • Diksha Guru was Vidyavacaspati • Hinga to Moragram, advised by Sanatan to bring stone masons to finish temple • Sakara Malli (Prime Minister) Dabira Khasa (Private Secretary)

  6. Read Bhagavatam daily and made over home in Ramakeli like Vrndavan • Too much for him when Shah attacked Orissa and demolished temples there • Rupa absconded & Sanatan feigned illness

  11. Temple Built • Deity asked for salt, but Sanatan told he had to stay renounced, & practice Manasi-seva • Sanatan said, “You make your own arrangements.” • Ramadas Kapoor boat sand bar, gave profit from that year for temple • Then Sanatan went back to Mahaprabhu’s task

  13. Feast • Radharani provided Rupa Goswami a feast • Rupa wrote Radha’s pony tail (veni) was like a snake (nagina) • Next day a girl was swinging & Sanatan shouted “Snake” & began to run toward.

  14. Jivana Thakur • Prayed in Kasi to Shiva for relief from poverty, Shiva said go to Vraja & seek shelter of Sanatan, who will remove your poverty • Why not obtain the treasure from Sanatan which makes him spurn touchstone

  15. Mahaprabhu passed in 1533 • Many Vaishnavas then went to live in Vrndavan • Sanatan circumambulated Govardhan daily • Supervised books by Rupa, Gopal Bhatta, Raghunatha Bhatta & Dasa, Jiva Goswami.

  22. Transgressed Rules • Caused Gopa Kumar to birth in Govardhan & became His guru Jayant • Book is said to be biographical of Sanatan Goswami, whose guru was Chaitanya • Both Gopa & Krishna pass out

  23. Prema • Attain not Bhagavan but prema, for it attracts Bhagavan • Prema never satiates, so Lord performs ever new pastimes for devotees • Mukti does not offer changing states of mind)

  24. How To Attain • Mercy of Krishna • Some attain with Sadhana, some without • Gives ready made food to some and provisions to others • Kirtan superior to smaranam, because all sense engaged, & neighbors hear • Sadhaka should principally do one he likes best
